ACCOMMODATION AND TRAVEL

Accommodation

Whilst each year more and more accommodation is being built, the island is still sleepy and relatively undeveloped,

so accommodation can be limited and things get booked up very early.

We really recommend not delaying booking your preferred accommodation

once availability for 2024 is published online in September/October 2023.

There are a lot of lovely boutique suites and hotels, guesthouses/ studios and some excellent Airbnb options

so check out the usual sites.

That said, if you book direct, you’re likely to get a better rate.

Here are some Pollonia recommendations but there are also a lot of other excellent options:

Fisherman’s boat houses (Syrmata)

For anyone wanting to get away from it all and stay somewhere more remote, there are number of renovated fisherman’s boat houses (Syrmata) located on various coves on the island. These are super cute and perfect for a couple,

but you’ll need your own transport to get about.

Travel

Milos is accessible by air and sea, so you have options:

Fly direct from Athens to Milos

(there are a few flights a day, but book well in advance and note that this is by far the quickest/easiest and cost-effective route).

Take a boat from Piraeus to Milos

(there are a few options but book in advance and the best option is to take a Seajet which offers the quickest crossing).

Fly from the UK to Santorini and take a Seajet/ferry from Santorini

(about 2 hours but leave plenty of time for battling the crowds in Santorini port).

Fly from the UK to Mykonos and take a Seajet/ferry from Mykonos

(about 3 hours but again leave plenty of time for battling the crowds in Mykonos port).

Getting around Milos:

Car hire: is very much advisable and we recommend booking.

4x4s are helpful, but definitely not essential. These guys are our go-to.

Taxis: there are few but not too many and they are expensive, so we wouldn’t recommend relying on taxis to get around during the day.

Taxi numbers: +30 2287 110100; +30 2287 022219; and +30 699 5944 909

Private transfer companies: are able to arrange travel for up to 8/9 people in a minibus/people carrier.

Contact any of the following:

Milos Transfer: +30 694 5417 234 / +30 699 4204 040

Matrix Services: +30 694 5426 494

Escape to Milos: +30 694 44558 567

Buses: are pretty frequent and go to and from all the main spots. You can find a rough estimate of bus times here.
